Supporting information

The cycle lane was installed on the 11th May 2020 as part of the Covid temporary measures.

The cycle lane has only been subject to a survey and is not proposed to be subject to any further consultation. The survey results were published on xxxxxxx and 64% of the respondents were against the cycle lane.

The cycle lane is not subject to a traffic regulation order and unless decided otherwise by Committee could remain indefinitely.

Other than advice that since 2016, cycling on this section of Old Shoreham Road has increased by 206 cycle journeys a day (that data collected in the summer), the council has provided no other monitored information. There have been no assessments provided that deal with reasons behind changes in travel habits, journey times, congestion, vehicle displacement, air quality, pollution levels or social or economic impacts. It would appear that other than the cycle lane “existing”, no attempt is being made to quantify its benefit or disbenefits.
